The Wolves

An indoor girl's soccer team navigates life

The Wolves by Sarah DeLappe follows a nine-person indoor girl's soccer team as they warm up before their game every Saturday. Only identified by the number on their jersey, eight of these teammates have been playing soccer together for over a decade. The undefeated team warms up before each game and has casual conversations about Cambodian genocide, tampons vs. pads, and each other's home lives. The new teammate, #46, is the odd one out and is met with resistance every time she makes an effort to fit in. Within the six weeks of games, the team faces anxiety, lifestyle judgment, excitement about the future, and loss.

The play about the ordinary lives of high school girls and what it means to play on a team, gives a chance for designers to work with pairing subtlety and creativity.
